Malcolm H. Ross

In 1996, Malcolm H. Ross, a telecommunications industry veteran of more than 25 years and principal of Global Telecommunications Initiatives launched GTI Intelligence, an investor newsletter focused on telecommunications ventures, aimed at informing fund managers, project-finance bankers, and private high net-worth individuals. Malcolm joined UK-based Cambridge Consultants Limited in 1972. In 1977, he co-founded the Arthur D. Little's Paris-based Telecommunications practice, from which he was transferred to expand its offices in Frankfurt, Germany and San Francisco, California. Until July 1999, he served as Vice President of and is now consultant to Arthur D. Little's worldwide Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications practice. Malcolm specializes in the mobile communications and high-speed data sectors, whereby his focus is set on new mobile applications of high-speed data transmission to regions with the highest GDP/sq km.

He was key to securing winning bids for personal communication systems and mobile data licenses around the world, including in the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, Indonesia and Taiwan, generating shareholder value exceeding USD 50 billion. Malcolm was responsible for crafting the mobile communications section of the 1993 Telecommunications Strategy Study, commissioned by the European Commission, updating the 1981/82 study (which he managed) that had led to the initial Telecommunications Green Paper of the Commission. Malcolm is presently an advisor to the European Business School. He is chairman of the GSM World Summit, based in Cannes, France, and also of the FT Mobile Conference. Malcolm is a qualified NLP trainer, a diving instructor and confesses to his deep passion for fine chocolates from around the world.
