A partnership agreement was signed today between Malta Enterprise and the Startup Malta Foundation for Entrepreneurship-, through which Malta Enterprise is being officially recognised as a Platinum Partner of this organisation. Malta Enterprise will be supporting Startup Malta in their efforts to raise entrepreneurial awareness on the island amongst all youths while also generating new and innovative start-up companies. The agreement was signed by Mr Joe Zammit Tabona on behalf of Malta Enterprise and Mr Richard Muscat for Startup Malta.
Speaking at the signing of this agreement Mr Zammit Tabona said, " our youths are the backbone on which the future economic prosperity of Malta must be built. " Malta Enterprise is committed to encouraging young people and providing the necessary support so that they can gain invaluable experience that will enable them to immerse themselves quicker into the working world. He added that that Malta Enterprise is committed to the success of this new relationship with Startup Malta, which is beneficial to both parties.
Mr Muscat said, " Startup Malta is looking forward to an exciting year of events and having Malta Enterprise once again on board provides the management team with a sense of security that our efforts are being appreciated. " Mr Muscat went on to explain that this is because the agreement between the two organisations reflects a personal commitment that Malta Enterprise and many of its employees have shown towards Startup Malta.
The concept driving Startup Malta came to life in December 2000 when 7 young
university students got together to create a project, by students for students-
something that would encourage their fellow friends to jump out of their box
and do something proactive. Startup Malta, through its activities manages to
combine education and entrepreneurship in an informal pleasant setting that does
not resemble that of traditional learning institutions.
